Executive and Leadership Coaching
A custom coaching engagement will address your immediate and/or longer-term leadership goals. You can choose a pure coaching approach, which supports you in accessing your own answers and inner wisdom, or a combination of coaching plus training, which includes elements from Jana's work within core leadership development courses at Stanford Business School.
It's a joy to help business partners build -- or re-build -- a collaborative, respectful and vitality-filled working relationship! In a combination of individual coaching sessions and facilitated partner dialogue, we draw upon expertise in coaching, mediation, group facilitation, diversity dynamics, psychological processes and interpersonal competencies to help you forge a partnership that serves the needs of each individual as well as those of your organization.
An expert in Experiential Learning, Jana has designed and led experiential workshops and training events since 2003 that deliver skill development, personal growth, or both. We're glad to craft an event for your needs. Read more on the "Offerings" page.
Unlike team-building or training events, team coaching Is a hands-on facilitated process that grows the capacities of your teams while they engage in normal team business. Skill-building elements are frequently included but are not the sole focus.
Jana has helped 50+ teams and groups reach a high performing stage in which members report feeling psychologically safe and can raise and work through uncomfortable conversations that are critical to achieving their purpose. These teams solve problems and learn together in ways not possible for a collection of individuals. They value and benefit from member differences and co-create a productive team culture that is sustainable over time.
Working with Jana stands out as a true gift of my professional experience working with teams. She helped me notice the blind-spots and choice-points impacting my leadership -- and did so from a place of true compassion, curiosity, flexibility, lightness, and humor. To have such a professional and easeful coaching experience, even as we worked through times of group conflict and contention around difficult issues, including diversity, is a rare and remarkable thing. So much learning, to work with Jana!"

Experiential Learning is the most powerful way to make changes in your professional and personal life, whether you're shifting an observable behavior or an invisible mental model.
A coaching or training engagement with me will include a variety of Experiential Learning methods and tools.
You won't learn concepts as a distant intellectual exercise. You'll also "do".
By doing, not just reflecting, your learning becomes more personal
... and more permanent.
This increases the odds you'll meet your goals, satisfied with your investment of time and money.
MY CLIENTS LEARN
WITH AN EXPERIENCED
GUIDE AT THEIR SIDE
Following a highly successful Global 500 career in sales, marketing and sales training, I began coaching leaders and emerging leaders more broadly in 2003 after rigorous training at Stanford Business School.
I've since coached and trained hundreds of leaders, emerging leaders, coaches and facilitators at Stanford Business School, Stanford Executive Education, Yale Business School ... and private companies from start-ups to large global enterprises and non-profit organizations.
I'm formally trained in 1:1 coaching, team coaching, conflict and mediation, group facilitation, diversity and inclusion, and psychological type. Together we'll draw upon an expanding range of multidisciplinary tools
to help you get where you want to go.
I'VE BEEN IN YOUR SHOES
Alongside (and thanks to!) the years of client work, training courses and life experiences that have built my tool kit, I continue to learn myself. By regularly growing my skillset as a participant, I not only expand my offerings but also retain empathy for the risk and vulnerability involved in developing yourself.
We're all human, so I also learn from occasional surprise opportunities -- those life experiences that draw upon qualities of curiosity, humility, perseverance, resilience, and compassion for myself and for others.
These are qualities, by the way, that strengthen my resourcefulness as your learning partner/coach. I'll bring my perseverance, resilience, humility, curiosity and compassion -- along with authentic challenge -- to the areas you want to shift for yourself.
My personal focus on learning will keep us grounded in the zone of growth (rather than one of judgment or defending).
Perceptive, insightful and compassionate, Jana has the capacity to swiftly connect to your reality, however culturally distant your backgrounds may be. Most importantly, she helps you pinpoint the key elements of your personal obstacles and sheds light on where to focus your attention. With insight and adaptability, she will “hold your hand” as you reflect on a call for change and explore ways to tackle those challenges."

Until meeting you, Jana, I had not felt the need to seek any coaching, as I get too busy, and it’s not been one of my priorities. You most definitely changed this for me. You helped me see I wasn’t alone in my battles -- that many executives feel the same pressures -- and that expressing myself is like a cleansing of the mind. Undoubtedly, it’s very hard to make changes about my personality, but I want to, and your strategies have worked a treat; in a short period of time I’m seeing the benefits. I cannot thank you enough. Meeting you has been one of the best things in my leadership journey."
